🎨 The Story Behind the Art

As children, we didn't need to see Santa's workshop to know exactly what it looked like.

Somewhere far away, beyond the snow and beneath the Northern Lights, there simply had to be a place where Christmas was being made.

A place filled with toys.

Tiny hammers tapping.

Elves hurrying from one workbench to another.

Christmas lights glowing overhead.

And Santa inspecting every last teddy bear, doll, train, and rocking horse before it found its way into his enormous sack.

That childhood imagination inspired Santa’s Christmas Workshop.

For this piece, I wanted the viewer to feel as though they've been given a rare peek through the workshop door on one of the busiest—and happiest—nights of the year.

At the center sits Santa, carefully examining a little red-and-green locomotive. Around him, his elves work among a wonderful jumble of traditional Christmas toys: teddy bears with bows around their necks, wooden trains waiting to be finished, a rocking horse, nutcrackers, brightly wrapped presents, and shelves overflowing with surprises.

Above everything are strings upon strings of glowing Christmas lights.

And behind Santa, tall jewel-colored windows reveal the deep blue of a snowy North Pole night.

There is almost too much to see at once.

And that's intentional.

Because some of the best Christmas memories feel exactly like that—color, laughter, excitement, lights, presents, music, people we love, and a hundred little details happening all at once.

But underneath all that activity is something much simpler.

Someone is preparing something special for someone else.

And perhaps that's where the real Christmas magic has always been.
